The Nevada - Baja Biosecurity Shield Zone (NXB), is a society defined not by contiguous borders, but by the hub-and-spoke doctrine of asymmetrical warfare. It is a network of fortified population and production centers, islands of absolute order established within a continental-scale bio-threat zone.

This network is interconnected by heavily defended transport corridors that facilitate the essential flow of personnel, resources and materials. The NXB is a society defined by its ability to project power and maintain biosecurity from within a territory that had been entirely lost to chaos.

This operational reality dictates its internal duality. The southern hub, the peninsula of Baja California, is the NXB’s strategic core, a natural sanctuary benefiting from extreme geographic isolation.

Life here is the purest expression of the Transhuman Eudaimonist ideal: relaxed, innovative and secure, a society focused on fundamental research and high-level strategy. The regional capital New La Paz serves as the NXB’s primary center for advanced technological R&D on the northern half of the Earth map, a utopian hub shielded from the harsh realities of the frontier zones.

That frontier is primarily the former American West. Life within the northern hubs is safe and orderly, but the atmosphere is one of perpetual, technologically-managed vigilance. The danger posed by the marauding techno-barbarian remnants of the old USA is external but constant, contained only by the unwavering shield of the DOCE DDS. 

The NXB capital city, New Las Vegas, is the command-and-control nexus for this entire containment strategy. Its origin was an act of supreme logistical opportunism; EPSCOM planners identified an abandoned real estate project east of the old city’s ruins. This provided a foundational footprint, which was then fortified and infused with advanced technologies. Its architecture is a calculated fusion of the iconic decorative facades of Old Las Vegas merged with hyper-resilient, functionalist structures. The city is compact and efficient, interconnected with Baja California by a high speed evacuated tube transport (EVT) system (known before the collapse mostly as "hyper-loop" system).

This critical logistical artery, linking New Las Vegas to New La Paz, is actively shielded along its entire length by dedicated DOCE DDS assets. Adjacent to the city proper is a sealed zone for limited commercial exchange with the hyper-capitalist world, while on its outskirts lies the primary training base for DOCE DDS human extensions, operatives trained for all purposes that protect the Transhuman Eudaimonist framework.

The NXB’s extended network consists of specialized production and support hubs.

Far to the east, the island of Hokkaido stands as a key EPSCOM bastion. Administratively affiliated with the NXB, it serves as EPSCOM’s primary outpost for East Asia and exploration expeditions into the ruins of the former PRC, confronting threats from Chinese techno-barbarians and the Pacific.

It also provides logistical support to PREDSUR-affiliated research bases in Kamchatka. In the far north, the large new urban area south of former Anchorage functions as one of the NXB's primary sustenance hubs, its production chain built on large-scale aquaculture and fishing operations to produce high-protein animal feed and nutritional supplements, alongside specialized manufacturing and heavy industry, goods all fed into VOCOA for wide distribution.

To the south, the Yucatan Peninsula is a secure, tropical enclave for leisure and research amidst ongoing infrastructure repair processes. Another small foothold is maintained through a series of fortified outposts on Key West and south of the fractured urban ruin of Miami.


Scattered between these major hubs are the frontier settlements: small, isolated communities like the fortified ranches of former Texas or agricultural communes in rural Nevada and Utah, each entirely dependent on the DOCE DDS perimeter for its moment-to-moment survival.

Containment warfare is the NXB’s daily reality.

Autonomous DOCE DDS patrols are constant, with plasma orb craft providing surveillance and rapid response across the wilderness, while containerized AHADDS swarms stand ready for quick release along critical perimeters.

EPSCOM reclamation teams conduct high-risk missions into the ruins of former Utah and Arizona, continuing the dangerous, ongoing process of salvaging black-project technology. This struggle is mirrored far to the north on the East Coast of the former United States in the contested Washington DC control zone, where reclamation efforts are of the highest priority. Close to the former seat of power, the NXB maintains a militarized outpost. From here, reclamation expeditions are launched to salvage both technologies and historical records, but this comes at the price of constant heavy clashes with more advanced techno-barbarian threat elements.

Yet far from the heat of the frontier, within the ice-locked valleys of Alaska, another, more fundamental campaign for dominance is waged.

Here, at the clandestine MIRAGE research facility, a select cadre of biotechnologists confronts the strategic challenge of planetary cooling. Their mission is the re-engineering of plant life to thrive in the encroaching colder temperatures. This work is not merely about adapting to a changing climate; it is a direct expression of the Transhuman Eudaimonist imperative to master nature's limitations. Within the permafrost, the NXB is systematically engineering its own resilience, ensuring its prosperity against any future environmental constraints.
